Greenwich Hospital Earns Top Nursing Honor

Nurses at Greenwich Hospital

Greenwich Hospital has earned Magnet® redesignation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), placing us among only 10 percent of hospitals nationwide — and just seven in Connecticut — to achieve this distinguished honor.

Magnet recognition is the gold standard for nursing excellence and the highest honor a hospital can receive for its nursing practice. During the rigorous review process, ANCC appraisers evaluated four key areas: empowered nursing leadership, a culture of safety, the quality of nursing practice, and the innovative best practices nurses implement to deliver exceptional patient care.

Greenwich Hospital recently celebrated this third Magnet recognition, with the ANCC announcing the redesignation during a call with hospital leaders and staff. This milestone reflects the hospital’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in nursing care.

“Remarkable dedication and professionalism are what define Greenwich Hospital, and this third Magnet designation proves just that,” said Bob Blenderman, PA, president of Greenwich Hospital. “This recognition is grounded in a shared belief across our entire hospital, yet it is our nurses — guided by their leadership and innovation — who truly drive our Magnet journey forward.”

“This accomplishment reflects the outstanding teamwork, perseverance and clinical skill our nurses and care teams demonstrate every single day,” said Anna Cerra, RN, DNP, Chief Nursing Officer at Greenwich Hospital. “We are extremely proud to be among a select group of hospitals nationwide recognized for their commitment to nursing excellence.”

An important component of Magnet designation is our hospital’s commitment to nursing education. Philanthropy supports a strong academic and research trajectory for our nursing staff, directly impacting patient care.
