COVID-19 Office of Development Letter – July 13, 2020

“The staff at Greenwich Hospital has performed extraordinary service for our community. They’ve put themselves in harm’s way to make sure the residents of Greenwich and the surrounding area receive the care necessary during this pandemic. We think it’s incredibly important to recognize their contribution and assist those staff members that have suffered physical and financial damages.” – Mary Alice O’Malley, a graduate of St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing, NYC, and a registered nurse

Dear Friend,

Months before the arrival of the novel coronavirus to our area, Greenwich Hospital launched an emergency response plan in anticipation for what was to come. We erected the state’s first testing site, expanded critical care training for staff, and put pandemic triage protocols in place. As the virus cases surged and patients came to us for lifesaving help, we tripled the number of ICU rooms and designated an entire floor for acute COVID-19 care.

Greenwich Hospital is profoundly grateful to our frontline heroes who, thrust into the epicenter of Connecticut and Westchester County’s COVID-19 pandemic, met this challenge and worked tirelessly for our patients and their families. Every healthcare professional and all support staff – from the nursing assistant and respiratory therapist to environmental services and transport – selflessly committed themselves to the demands of this crisis.

Our caregivers sacrificed in order to address the needs of others – perhaps even members of your family or neighbors you know. As a result, many now face unanticipated financial hardships of their own. Inspired to help alleviate their burden, the O’Malley Family Foundation has generously helped establish the Greenwich Hospital COVID-19 Employee Disaster Relief Fund. Every donation you make to this Fund will be doubled, thereby doubling your impact. And every donation you make will go directly to a healthcare frontline worker who now needs care themselves.

Please commit to helping those whose mission is to help others.
