“We are living through an unprecedented moment in our lives where the quality of health care can have a disproportionate impact on society. We salute Greenwich Hospital – all the doctors, nurses, staff and leadership for their tireless, selfless and wonderful service. We truly feel privileged to be able to support this institution and here’s to your continuing your mission of care with compassion. Love Light Laughter.” Chandrika and Ranjan Tandon
“The Greenwich Hospital Covid-19 frontline doctors, nurses and EMTs are working relentlessly, putting their own lives at risk, to support the greater health of our community. In gratitude, The Simon and Eve Colin Foundation recognizes these heroes and every Greenwich Hospital employee behind the scenes, handling the myriad challenges of dealing with this devastating virus. Thank you for sustaining our families with the highest quality of medical care, always.” Rebecca Colin, Ph.D.
Dear Friends,
Months before the arrival of Covid-19 to our area, Greenwich Hospital launched an emergency response plan. We trained non-critical care staff in critical care; we expanded and reallocated patient rooms; we procured equipment and supplies; and we put pandemic triage protocols in place. We planned for the unimaginable and we were ready.
When the number of coronavirus patients multiplied, we grew our 10-bed ICU to 30. An entire hospital floor became a Covid-19 floor. Many of our resources were replenished with one call—to Yale New Haven Health (YNHH). Our health system partner helped provide ICU nurses, ventilators, and monitors. Several Yale Medicine physicians brought a special machine to Greenwich and assisted a pulmonary critical care specialist in stabilizing a grievously ill patient. YNHH was ready.
Concerned that hospital workers working double shifts might need extra protection and nourishment, community volunteers stepped up support through generous donations to our Covid-19 Fund. They arranged for restaurant meal deliveries to refuel nurses, physicians and the entire Greenwich Hospital family. First responders from Fairfield and Westchester staged a drive-by rally. Our community was ready.
We know we can get through this because everyone contributed in some way. We are so very grateful to our generous donors who always stand with us at the ready.
With deep gratitude,
Noël Appel and the Office of Development Team
