Alyssa Gillego, MD, a fellowship-trained breast surgeon specializing in breast cancer treatment, joined the breast care team at Smilow Cancer Hospital Greenwich Hospital’s campus.
”Dr. Gillego is the perfect combination of being well-trained, experienced and compassionate. As a resident of Greenwich, she looks forward to participating in hospital and community events,” said Barbara Ward, MD, medical director of the Breast Center. “We are fortunate to have her on board.”
Dr. Gillego performs breast biopsies, lumpectomies, mastectomies, and sentinel lymph node biopsies plus nipple-sparing mastectomy for select cancer patients and women undergoing prophylactic surgery due to a BRCA gene mutation.
Dr. Gillego also sees patients with benign breast conditions or a family history of breast cancer.
Prior to joining Greenwich Hospital, Dr. Gillego practiced at Mt. Sinai Beth Israel in New York and was an associate professor of surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed surgical training at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn.
